Frank J. Previc, who lived 93 of his 95 years in Penn Hills, died peacefully Monday, Aug. 20, 2007, in Georgetown, Del. He was born Sept. 3, 1911, in Universal, Penn Hills, to the late Thomas J. and Mary (Yereb) Previc and also was predeceased by sisters Mary Pavlik and Helen Grabowski, brothers Edward and Albert and niece Rose Marie Stevenson. Mr. Previc was the former co-owner with his late brother and partner, Henry, of Shop Rite supermarket, serving the needs of shoppers in the Universal area for nearly 40 years. He served in the army before and during World War II and was a lifetime member of the Slovene National Benefit Society, a member of the American Legion, the Moose and the Croatian Fraternal Union and a former member of Penn Hills Volunteer Fire Department No. 6. Mr. Previc also was an enthusiatic golfer and gardener. Surviving are his devoted wife of 59 years, Caroline (Kukovich) Previc; daughter, Francine Morrison, of Atlanta; son, Thomas F., of Camp Hill; grandchildren, Keith and Christopher Previc and Ashley and Christina Morrison; nephews, Al Pavlik, of Lower Burrell, Fred Previc, of San Antonio, Texas, Walter Grabowski, of West Pittston, and Edward Previc, of Gainesville, Fla., and nieces Elaine Pavlik and Fran Flanagan, of Pittsburgh, and Janet Shay, of California. |
